2022年下半期、最後の卸で【フランクロイドライト、その弟子の様な存在である遠藤新氏の建築物を所有される施設】から高額な宿泊費を支払って滞在される方に向けて、既製品ではなく手がかかったもので日本酒を提供したいとのことでご紹介を経て私に声がかかり、雪山シリーズ、黄色とブルーの組み合わせセットのお猪口とそれぞれの片口を納品しました。

また、同氏たちの建造物などは自然との調和を大切にされていることもあり、雪山のシリーズなど、私自身が雪山の景色に魅了され作り出した器とは親和性もあり、とても光栄に思いました。

I was also honored by the fact that the architects’ buildings are in harmony with nature, and the Snow Mountain series, for example, has an affinity with the vessels I have created because of my own fascination with snowy mountain landscapes.

PRしていただけるとのお話だったのと、予算が無いとのことでとても破格の赤字価格で卸しました。

実際には私に宿泊できるような価格帯の施設ではないため、ご使用いただいているのかどうかは見ていないのでわかりません。

ただ、この頃ちょうど四角形や五角形、八角形などあらゆる器を作り終え、六角形についても何か作りたいと思いながらも、まだ具合的なイメージがわいていなかったので、この施設内を見学することができたのは私にとって深い意味がありました。

正六角形は私がこよなく愛する形のひとつです。

The regular hexagon is one of my favorite shapes.

【正六角形】は三方均等である【正三角形】が6つ（ハーフダース）集まってできている。

A regular hexagon is made up of six (half-dozen) equilateral triangles, which are equal on three sides.

内角はそれぞれ120度（1ダース×10）。

Each internal angle is 120 degrees (1 dozen x 10).

10も12も数字としてある種の完成形を表す数。（10進法や12進法）

自然界でも正六角形はたくさん見かける。

We see many regular hexagons in nature.

雪の結晶しかり、ハチの巣しかり。

Snowflakes, beehives, and so on.

自然界では強者、弱者といった単純なパワーバランスだけでなく循環によって均衡が保たれている。

だからこそ脅威も含めて自然界の事物が美しいと感じるのかもしれない。

In the natural world, there is not only a simple balance of power between the strong and the weak, but also a cycle that maintains equilibrium.

Perhaps that is why we find things in nature, including threats, so beautiful.

そんなことを思いながら六角形のお皿を作りました。

With this in mind, I created a hexagonal plate.

見学した施設の柱に使われていた石づくりのブロックが気になって調べてみると大谷石というもので経年変化も色々あるようでした。

I was curious about the stone blocks used for the pillars of the facility we visited, and upon further investigation, I found that they were Oyaishi, a type of stone that changes in various ways over time.

その雰囲気を出したくて、土は信楽土に少し小さな石の粒を混ぜ込んだものにし、色も食器としての（カップの）自身の好みと大谷石のイメージをリンクさせました。

I wanted to recreate that atmosphere, so the clay was Shigaraki clay mixed with a few small grains of stone, and the color was linked to my own taste in tableware (of the cup) and the image of Oyaishi.

縁取りにかけた釉薬は大谷石の経年変化のイメージとリンクさせながらも、プロダクトとしてのデザインで、器を引き締める役割も持たせています。

The glaze applied to the rim is linked to the image of the aging of the Oya stone, while the design as a product also serves to tighten the plates.

現在とても気に入って毎日のように使っている器です。

本日6月6日より6角形のお皿単品としても、カップ＆ソーサーとしても販売をスタートしました。

I am currently very fond of this plate and use it every day.

価格はそれぞれ6600円（税込み）。調和のとれた六角形を表す数字６。

６には教養、共生、融合などの意味も含まれます。

そうやって、数字や図形と対話する時間はとても楽しいです。
